LDN: MY SPEED DATING EXPERIENCE

11:00

About two weeks ago now, I was kindly invited by Robert from Date In A Dash to come along to one of their speed dating events with my friend Claire. I had been keen on trying this since my housemate goes to them all the time and meets a ton of people, and if not as romantic partner's she's gained a few good friends out of it. So we decided to take the plunge and step out of the Tinder "online" world and go meet some singles in London (with the help of some free shots and drinking games). Read all about it below!

So the company organises a number of different types of events, including traditional "speed dates" where you're given 2 minutes with each person and then you're given a card to write down who you'd like to see again, lock and key events, single's pub crawls, play dates and even workshops for people who are keen to learn all about the language of love. Furthermore, they're all held in central London so the venues are easily accessible by tube and they aren't too shabby! Some of them include Kensington Roof Gardens, Mahiki, The Jam Tree and Scarlet's.

We decided to go for the single's pub crawl as it felt more casual and fun, and it did not disappoint. The Pub Crawl started of at Ruby Blue in Leicester Square where we were given the chance to have a few drinks, socialise and we were told how the night was going to unfold. Unlike a normal night on the town where you have to wait for someone to have downed 3 jaeger bombs before approaching you, since everyone was there for the same reason it wasn't long before the mingling started.

The event comes with its perks, for £10-£15 you get entry to all 4 bars (in this case Ruby Blue, Zoo Bar, Piccadilly Institute and finishing off at Tiger Tiger), free shots in each place, drinking games and prizes, and queue jump! Not to mention seeing as it's full of single men, you're bound to get a few free drinks in there too.

Overall my experience of it was pretty good - it wasn't awkward, I met a few nice guys from Spain, Italy, Canada, Australia and plain old England. I made some friends on the night and danced till 4am and may have had one too many Porn Star Martini's which resulted in a very blurry journey home, but I'd definitely go again!
