15 GOOD HABITS WE SHOULD ALL BE ADOPTING.

Tuesday 15 November 2016

Hey guys, I'm back at it again with another list of things to make us all feel fabulous. I always feel like with these posts it may come across like I know everything and you must do what I say, but I write these posts to remind myself of these things and if in the process you guys can relate and decide to take these things on too, then that's my good deed done for the day.

1. Don't neglect your skin. Before this year I just use to buy the cheapest face wash and whack on some moisturiser when I remembered to. Now that I'm actually all clued up on skincare from reading so many wonderful blogs, I make sure to stick to a good daily skincare routine (and the gradual tanner moisturiser). You're also never too young to start using eye cream! Oh and use sun protector.

2. Nice nails, or nothing at all. My grandmother once told me "if your nails aren't neat and tidy, then there's no point making an effort with the rest of yourself" but in Spanish of course. It's stuck with me and I can't help but notice when someone has chipped or dirty nails and is probably one of my pet peeves. If you're too lazy to keep them painted just keep them plain or fake em!

3. Whatever you wear, wear it with confidence. It breaks my heart when I see people laughing at other people who have been brave enough to wear something they feel good in. Heck people laughed at me when I looked like a colourful unicorn at the colour festival because I wasn't wearing jeans shorts and a white shirt, but I still had the time of my life. If you want to wear heels even though everyone is wearing flats or vice versa, go ahead and do it - it's always better to be overdressed in my opinion anyway!

4. Move more. I'm going to be transparent here and say the only exercise I currently do is walk to and from university, but hey it is a 20 minute journey away. I know the last thing anyone wants to do in the winter is go outside, but some fresh air always clears your mind and gets those endorphins going.

5. Don't be a silent complimentor. I totally just made that word up, but I personally love when I get random messages from my friends telling me I look nice, or get a little flame emoji on that Instagram photo that took twenty tries. If you think someone looks nice or you really like their lipstick and want to know where they got it from, go ahead and do it! It might be the only thing that makes them smile that day. #deep

6. Know when to apologise, and when not to. Some of just can't help being stubborn, but like my pal (Bieber, 2015) suggested, it's never too late to say sorry when you're missing more than just their body. But seriously, if you can't get someone off your mind and know you were in the wrong, just be the bigger person. Similarly, don't take sh*t from people and learn to stand your ground.

7. Become a morning person. I'm writing this post at 2am, so I won't be getting rid of this bad habit just yet. The days where I do manage to roll out of bed before 11am are pretty productive and I actually get time to enjoy a good breakfast that's insta worthy. I feel like perhaps I could do a whole blog post on how and why we should all become morning people, thoughts?

8. Carry a water bottle everywhere. I'm not drinking nearly as much water as I was in the summer for obvious reasons, but I keep putting off actually buying a new water bottle too. *opens ebay*

9. Make your bed. As I mentioned in a previous post here, you'll just feel like you have your life together if your bed is made, even if you're crying on the inside. Similarly tidying your room every day instead of throwing all your clothes on your chair is always a good habit to keep, you never know when you're going to have unexpected guests.

10. Say how you really feel. "People should be able to say how they feel, how they really feel, not you know, some words that some stranger put in their mouths." (Tom, 500 Days of Summer). That's about it really, if you like someone tell them, if you want to ask someone to go see Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them with you then do it, nobody likes mind games or tip toeing around until someone gets drunk enough to blurt out their feelings.

11. Say "I love you" more. On the topic of amor, don't be afraid to use the dreaded l o v e word. It's not just reserved for your S/O - tell your friends! tell your family! tell your cat!

12. Save a bit each week. I'm planning so many trips for next year and not sure where I'm going to get the money from, so this is something I definitely need to start implementing. Well paying off my overdraft should probably take priority. If you're looking for some ways to save money here and there, check out one of my recent posts here

13. Read/Write more. We have the privilege of being able to do both these things, so we might as well make good use of them. Read for pleasure and keep a journal, it'll be nice to look back on!

14. Smile at strangers. I mean this in the least creepy way possible, but how nice is it when you make eye contact with someone and they smile at you instead of giving you the evil eye? Be one of those people.

15. Show your gratitude. I'm probably guilty of this because even though I appreciate the things people do for me (especially my mum) I'm not great at verbalising it. I have some great friends and sometimes I feel like I don't show my gratitude enough and wish I was made of money and could buy them all lovely hampers of my love. Infact I'd like to extend this and say thank you to everyone who's ever taken the time to leave a comment, share a post, message a friend and bitch about how lame I am on here share a post with them or simply reading this post! It means a lot that at least one other person cares about what I have to say. I LOVE YOU ALL x

I'm going to refer back to this in a week and see what I've managed to keep up. Which of these do you reckon are most important for you?
