♡ STYLE PICKS: THE OSCARS 2016 ♡

Monday 29 February 2016

Last night the most important event in Hollywood took place, and to sum it up Mad Max won everything and Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his first long overdue Oscar. Other winners from the night included Alicia Vikander for Best Supporting Actress in The Danish Girl and Brie Larson took the Best Actress award for her role in Room. Both were well deserved and if you haven't seen their respective movies you should get on it now.

Before I get onto my favourite looks from the night, I just want to address the comment presenter Chris Rock made last night about "Ask Them More". For those of you who didn't see the show, Chris went on to talk about (in a very humorous manner) why it isn't a sexist thing to ask women what they're wearing on the red carpet, simply because men all wear the same damn thing and it would be a very boring conversation for everyone involved unless Robert De Niro showed up in a flamingo suit.

1. Alicia Vikander

This dress is the same sorta style that we saw on Cheryl Cole at the Brits on Wednesday. Not everyone could pull this custom made Louis Vuitton dress but Alicia pulls it off effortlessly.

2. Cate Blanchett

I love the style of this dress and the colour (because I'm a mermaid) and I love the shoulder detailing. Although it could have done without all the flowers on the bottom half of the dress.

3. Charlize Theron

Charlize looks gorgeous in this sultry red gown and was voted best dressed of the night on several platforms.

4. Daisy Ridley

Daisy looks elegant and classic in this silver number.

5. Lady Gaga

Seeing Lady Gaga on the red carpet has got so much more exciting since she dropper her wacky outfits and meat dresses, especially when she's channeling a modern day Marilyn Monroe.

6. Margot Robbie

Margot may have taken inspiration from the oscar trophy itself for this ensemble.

7. Rachel McAdams

I'm loving jade and emerald coloured dresses this season, and Rachel's simple but sultry dress was a great choice for the award ceremony.

8. Saoirse Ronan

ANOTHER MERMAID DRESS.

9. Olivia Munn

Not many people can pull off bright orange dresses, but Olivia looks stunning in this dress and we know what orange is great for, bringing out your tanned complexion!

10. Rooney Mara

Rooney looks beyond elegant in this Givenchy number.

What were some of your favourite looks on the red carpet?
