RECIPE: GIBRALTARIAN PASTA BAKE

Wednesday 9 March 2016

Truthfully, I don't really know what the name of this dish is in english. Back home we simply call it
"fideo con bacon y huevo" which simply translates to pasta with bacon and egg, but that sounds quite misleading. I thought the closest fit to it would be a pasta bake (with a mix of carbonara) but looking at the ingredients they do differ, but it tastes as good either way!

Ingredients

2-3 cups of pasta (depending on how much you're making)
1 pot of single cream
grated cheddar cheese
2 eggs
bacon
sausages

Method

1. In a pot boil your pasta, once this is cooking grab a chopping board and chop up the bacon (if not diced already) and sausages.

2. Once the pasta has boiled, drain it and place it in a mixing bowl. After this add a knob of butter, the single cream, the (beaten) eggs, the bacon, sausages and the cheese.

3. Once everything is mixed in the bowl (it won't look very appetising at this point) pour the mixture into the dish you'll be using and place it in the oven to cook for 30-50 minutes until the top layer is crispy.

4. Enjoy!
