♡ 10 RESOLUTIONS EVERYONE SHOULD MAKE FOR 2016 ♡

Sunday 27 December 2015

As the end of 2015 quickly approaches, i'm sat here thinking to myself, how many of last years resolutions did I actually keep? I probably weigh the same as last year (or slightly more), I have no new tattoos, and still haven't started that band i've been talking about for the past 2 years. Here are some slightly more achievable ideas for the New Year!

1. Let It Go

You probably sang to yourself reading this one, if not, then good on you. On a serious note, try letting go of all your baggage in 2016 - it might be that f*ckboy you see once a month and apart from his pretty face isn't really that interesting, or those beyond ripped jeans you still cling on to, or simply let go of all the grudges and hate you have towards people who did you wrong in the past. Free all that space in your ♡ and head for bigger and better things!

2. Be OK Being By Yourself

Whether you're single, in a long-term relationship or travelling the world with your successful band, learn to enjoy solitude. You can spend so much time caught up with other people that you forget your own ambitions, likes and dislikes. Take some time to learn to get to know yourself, go for a walk, have dinner alone, go see that band that no one else likes by yourself and enjoy it, and most importantly, learn to Netflix and Chill by yourself.

3. Save Money

This is one I really need to actually go through with, because I fail every year. Even if you put £10 aside a month, or stop ordering that £3.80 Starbucks hot chocolate every morning, it goes a long way!

4. Go On A Trip

Even if it's just to a different city 2 hours away, plan something with your friends, significant other or even by yourself. That way you'll have to chance to explore a new city, escape reality for a bit, and have something exciting to count down to!

5. Read More

By this, I mean my blog (kidding, maybe). Reading expands your imagination and your knowledge, and it's also great for making time go by quicker when you're commuting, or waiting in line for a ride at DisneyWorld!

6. Grow Up

This doesn't mean acting like a cranky 50 year old who never goes out and doesn't let their hair down now and again, but try and get your shit together! Learn how to pay the bills, try and recreate that meal you really enjoyed at that restaurant, tell people when you're angry at them instead of subtweeting them, become an independent ass mutherfucka who don't need no side dish.

7. Be More Giving

Not just in the bedroom guys, but in society. Try volunteering, doing something for a stranger, spending more time with your grandparents, treat your mother to a spa weekend, buy your friend an unexpected gift, or even take out that friend for dinner who you know is currently having a hard time/broke.

8. Attempt Something New

Some of you might have seen on Twitter, but in 2016 I'm going to attempt to write a book - HA! It might be a complete flop, and I might give up after page 20, but it gives me something new to do! Try a new sport, class at the gym, write a song, start a band - don't be afraid of judgement and really step out of your comfort zone.

9. Make Mistakes

I'm not talking about setting your exes house on fire or putting yourself at risk, but life is full of mistakes that shape us. So go for things and if they don't work out, go horribly wrong or you end up wanting to hide from the world after, at least they make good stories!

10. Set A Goal, and Achieve It.

For a lot of you, this is probably shifting those 2 kilos, or maybe 20! BUT STICK TO IT. Don't make it a goal for summer and then give up in March, make a year long goal or a list of short term goals and see what you can accomplish. Some of mine for next year include visiting 3 new cities a year, FINALLY dropping a dress size, possibly start a band and get rid of my red hair!

I'd love to hear what some of your New Years Resolutions are going to be, let me know in the comments below!
