FESTIVE & HOLIDAY DRINKING GAMES.

Thursday 21 December 2017

Tomorrow will be a good day, firstly because it's payday and secondly because it's probably the busiest Friday of the year. Not going to lie to you, most of these games are going to be regular drinking games with a festive spin on them, and after about two rounds you'll probably get sick of talking about santa, elves and eggnog and return to playing them regularly. Either way, grab a glass of (mulled) wine and enjoy! Big thanks to Chase Distillery for providing the alcoholic advent calendar, the mulberry vodka is already exciting me.

1. NEVER HAVE I EVER (CHRISTMAS EDITION)

Like the regular game, but Christmas related stuff. If any of you don't know how to play, you simply state something you've 'never' done, and whoever has done said thing, drinks - simple!

Never Have I Ever made out with someone under a mistletoe - Drink!
Never Have I Ever exchanged a present I received for christmas - Drink!
Never Have I Ever bought something for someone but then kept it for myself instead... - Drink!

2. QUICKFIRE (CHRISTMAS EDITION)

Ask a question and then take it in turns round the circle to go answering that question. As the name states, you need to be quick! If someone hesitates or can't think of an answer, they drink. You can make this as hard or easy (or rude) as you like.

Favourite christmas song?
What are you drinking right now?
worst gift you've received?

3. DRINK EVERY TIME

This can be pretty fun at family dinners too, and you can even play between two of you and make it more entertaining. You basically make up a set of rules and drink whenever they happen, granted it's funnier if said person doesn't find out, or it might lead to an uncomfortable evening.

Drink Every Time someone tells you to have a Merry Christmas
Drink Every Time a tv channel is playing a Christmas movie
Drink Every Time aunt Susan brags about her holiday in Barbados

4. DRINK WITH THE MOVIE

Pretty self explanatory. Put your favourite christmas movie on (or Sky Movies) and drink every time something happens (you can set the rules) for this one.

Drink Every time Zooey Deschanel sings in Elf
Drink when there's a reindeer on the screen
Drink when someone Ho Ho Ho's

5. CHRISTMAS TREE

Place your cards in a pyramid shape starting with 5 cards at the bottom, making the shape of a 'christmas tree'. Next take turns picking a card from each row - if you draw a red card you drink, if you draw a black card you choose someone to drink. You can also add in other rules for specific cards you draw.

6. FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK

Play the song and have everyone sing, every time someone messes up on on it, they drink. I struggle with this sober so this should provide to be a bit of a challenge.

7. ANNOYING RELATIVE ROULETTE

This can be pretty hilarious, my sister and I played it last Christmas and no one had a clue (until now if you're reading this fam) Each member of your family probably has a phrase, habit, or something annoying they regularly do... so each time they do it, drink. Alternatively you can also play this when you're out with friends and going to be bumping into people you know.

Drink whenever Aunt Lourdes asks for the music to be turned down
Drink whenever Lisa starts crying at the table
Drink when your friend starts talking about the expensive bag she got for Christmas

8. THE ALPHABET GAME (CHRISTMAS EDITION)

This one's easy. Start with A and go round the group naming something to do with the season, if someone hesitates or can't think of something - they drink!

A - Away in a manger
B - Bethlehem?
C - Christmas Carols....

9. JINGLE SHOTS

Someone starts by picking their favourite christmas jam, you then sing a line each and if anyone messes up the words or doesn't know how it goes....drink! You can get creative with your shots too or make some green and red jelly ones and sprinkle some edible glitter on top, fabulous.

 I really can't say.....
but baby it's cold outside
.....i want a new sleigh....drink!

10. GET CARDED

Divide up the card you got for the holidays between you and everyone else. You then take turns reading your cards out loud, if your card contains: a photo of people wearing christmassy sweaters, religious messages, an animal in christmas attire - drink!

Which of these games are up your street? If you have any others you and your family/friends play I'd love to add them to my list! Remember to drink responsibly and know your limits!
