Hey guys! It's been a very long time since I've done a book review because simply I usually just move on to the next one and forget to write about, and sometimes I feel I don't have enough to say about each one! Me Before You was one of my favourite books I've read in a while, so I felt like I had to get you all on board if you somehow hadn't heard of it yet!
Me Before You is a "contemporary romance" written by Jojo Moyes and is set in England. I don't read many romance novels and tend to stick to thrillers such as Gone Girl, The Girl On The Train etc. but this was a refreshing change!
The book focuses on Lou Clarke who has spent most of her life working in a cafe and trying to support her family financially, when she loses that job she then finds herself working for Will Traynor - the rich boy who has been left in a wheelchair after an accident and can't do anything for himself. I decided to read this book after seeing the trailer for the movie that will be released later this year starring Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke and Hunger Games' Sam Clafflin.
The story is beautifully told - it has you laughing at Will's sarcastic humour, relating to Lou's struggles and accomplishments and of course comes with its parts that you'll need to have a tissue box handy. There are probably no ways in which I can fault this book, it's realistic and shows things that happen in life are simply out of your control and makes you want to get so much more out of life.
I'm in the process of getting my hands on the sequel After You as we speak and I'll be sure to tell you all how that goes!
*** G's Rating: 4/5 ***
