Houmous,Hamos, Hummus, Hommos, Hummos, Hummous, Humus! (Got to cover all the bases)
For those of you who haven’t tried houmous or not yet on the houmous bandwagon, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!

For anybody that knows me I’m never far from a pot of houmous, the famous Miss. Spiteri recently shared an article with me – 19 signs you’re in a relationship with houmous (I have no shame that I tick all of these).

In my eyes it’s compatible with just about everything. Have you ever met a person who just seems to get along with everyone? Houmous is that person. It goes with veggie sticks, crisps, tortillas, pitta bread, in sandwich’s, on crackers, in a wrap, the list goes on and on.

AND you can never get bored with it because there are soooooo many different flavours. Red pepper, smoked paprika, sweet chilli, caramelised onion, lemon and coriander, sun dried tomato, Moroccan spiced, pesto…you get the idea.

For those of you feeling a bit adventurous here is a very simple, quick and CHEAP recipe to make a heavenly houmous. It’s just a basic recipe so you can then add in whatever flavourings you fancy.

Ingredients

220g Can of chickpeas
1 Clove of garlic, cut finely or crushed
3 Tablespoons tahini (tahini is a paste made out of sesame seeds and can be picked up in all major supermarkets…just might have to have a good look around)
3 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
1 Teaspoon ground cumin
¼ Teaspoon salt

Instructions

Stick it all in a blender and give it a good blitz. EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY

If you like your houmous really smooth you can cook the chickpeas and take the skins off each individual chickpea….but who can really be bothered with that!?! I did it once and it took me an hour Zzz

Here are my two masterpieces, just topped with cumin and one with olives (I hate olives but got to keep Mummy Butler happy)….

Enjoy Ladies and Gentlemen
